Derek Douglas is passionate about helping individuals and families build confidence in their financial futures through thoughtful planning and personalized guidance. His commitment to serving others was shaped during his 11 years in the United States Air Force, where he served as a foreign language analyst and later as a Military Training Instructor at Air Force Basic Military Training. It was in those leadership roles that Derek discovered his passion for mentoring, developing others, and making a meaningful impact on people's lives.
Derek studied Urdu at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, earned a degree in Intelligence Studies from the Community College of the Air Force, and continues to pursue his passion for learning through his studies in philosophy at Arizona State University. As a military veteran, husband, and father of three young daughters, he understands the importance of protecting what matters most. He is especially passionate about serving veterans, medical professionals, and families as they work toward achieving long-term financial security and peace of mind.
Derek and his wife, a fellow military veteran and nurse anesthetist, chose to return to Western New York after their military service to raise their family in the close-knit community they love. They enjoy being active members of the community and believe in the importance of serving others both personally and professionally.
Outside of the office, Derek enjoys sailing on Lake Ontario, cycling, and spending time outdoors with his daughters, exploring nature and creating lasting memories together. He believes that living with integrity and following sound processes—doing what is right, for the right reason—provides the strongest foundation for lasting success.
